UPCOMING PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING
Physical fitness  testing for all applicants interested in a position as a Correction Officer has been scheduled to take place as follows:

DATE:          Saturday, May 31, 2014   Rain date:  June 7, 2014
TIME:           10:00 AM
LOCATION:  Taconic High School track, Pittsfield, MA

The standards that must be met or exceeded can be found within our application for employment.  All applicants are strongly encouraged to review the standards with their personal physician to ensure that they are physically able to participate. 

All applicants must reserve their spot at the testing by calling Diane Maynes at (413) 443 7220 ext. 1102.   When calling please leave your name, date of birth and phone number.   Deadline for reservations is Thursday, May 29, 2014 at noon. 

Only those candidates who successfully meet the physical fitness requirements will remain eligible for consideration during this round of selection and hiring.   Updated applications may be required for all candidates successfully meeting the physical fitness standards.


Correction Officers

The Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office, Jail and House of Correction does accept applications on an on-going basis for full-time Correction Officers.  Starting salary is over $40,000 with benefits including:

· vacation

· paid holidays

· medical and dental insurance

· retirement plan

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

· be at least 19 years old

· possess a high school diploma or equivalent

· pass a criminal background check

· pass a physical exam and physical fitness test

· pass a psychological test, oral interview and academy training

 

NURSING STAFF:  While we are not currently hiring either full time or per diem nursing staff, applications are accepted.   Training for per diem nursing staff requires the ability to commit to at least 32 hours per week, both first and second shift, and weekends for a training period of approximately 4-6 weeks.
